Adoption of the 2009 Budget on the 27th March 2009

The Syndicat Mixte of Deauville Normandy Airport adopted its 2009 Initial Budget during the Board Meeting of the 27th March 2009. The operational section of the 2009 Initial Budget amounts to €6,255,094 and the investment section to €6,109,734.35. The investment section is financed by a transfer of €5,806,699 from the operational section. The required financial surplus for 2008 and the actual spend per line item for the same year are taken into account.

Key Investments planned for 2009

The following investments are planned for 2009:

- re-surfacing of  the runway and aircraft parking area

- civil works to comply with French Govt and EU water regulations

- installation of a simplied approach and lighting for commercial aircraft

- civil works to upgrade the grass parking area for light aircraft

- contruction of additional car parking spaces (3rd phase).

The Financing of Projects

The Syndicat Mixte will participate in a financially significant way in the investments made by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Pays d'Auge on the basis of a maximum rate of financial participation approved by the Board of the Syndicat Mixte. The developer is obliged to appeal to other investors in order to reduce the financial participation of the Public Authority.

Infrastructure Construction Objectives

These civil and construction works aim to maintain and enhance the international status of Deauville Airport and attract airline companies and operators to offer regular and scheduled air services to and from the Airport.

In relation to this, the President of the Syndicat Mixte, M. Alain Le Vern noted: “These significant investments show the willingness of the two regions of Upper and Lower Normandy in partnership with the city of Deauville to invest in a project that highlights and reinforces the interregional status of the airport in Normandy. These investments represent some of the biggest civil works in Normandy in 2009.”

Temporary Closure of Deauville Airport

In order to proceed with the runway re-surfacing and civil works to comply with the water regulations, Deauville St-Gatien Airport will be closed for 12 weeks from the beginning of November 2009. The re-opening is planned for the first week of February 2010.
