NOISE REDUCTION PROCEDURES AT DEAUVILLE-NORMANDIE AIRPORT

Further to a series of discussions with the French National Navigation Service (DSNA), commercial airliners principally Airbus and Boeing aircraft, are now obliged upon take off from Deauville-Normandie Airport in a westerly direction (runway 30) to effect their tuning manoeuvre above the sea and no longer above the residential areas around the Airport.

This procedure modification was published on the 7th May 2009 and aims to reduce the level of takeoff noise experienced by residents living close to the airport. A further development in 2011 to this procedure is that the Syndicat Mixte is in detailed discussion with the DSNA to put in place exactly the same procedure for commercial aircraft taking off a in a easterly direction (runway 12), towards St Gatien.

Tests are currently on-going which oblige aircraft to effect their turning manoeuvre at an altitude of  3000 ft. At this altitude the perceived noise level of departing aircraft is low. It is hoped that the DSNA will validate this procedure for runway 12 next year.
